Cool Tidbits - TDKR, Hobbit, Elysium, Evel Knievel, Man of Steel and More!

While I was doing the daily perusal of my favourite movie blogs, I noticed quite a few news bits and pieces that got me a little more excited than normal. This is mostly due to the fact that the San Diego Comic-Con begins in the next day or so. So I thought, why not post a brief summary? Hit the jump to see, among others, awesome Mondo posters, TDKR stuff, news on reactions to both Man of Steel and Elysium, more posters, trailers and casting news.

1. Peter Sciretta of SlashFilm tweeted about someone saying that, apparently, Neill Blomkamp's Elysium is "better than Blade Runner". God damn! Okay, it is hearsay and it was probably a very early screening, but I can guarantee Peter Sciretta won't tweet something if its likely to be bullshit. SlashFilm is probably the biggest movie blog out there.

2. On the contrary, Sciretta also tweeted that, apparently, the producers are not happy after seeing an early cut of Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. Sigh, lets hope they sort that out.

3. I saw a user review on IMDB of the TDKR from a pre-screening. It seemed legit, especially since it has now been removed. The verdict? Apparently it is incredibly awesome. Better than TDK even.

4. Check out this AMAZEBALLS IMAX poster for TDKR (click on it for a high res version):

5. Oh, and since we are speaking of TDKR, here is an awesome new trailer (which ties together all 3 movies in the Nolan Batman Trilogy):

6. Moving away from Bats and towards Mockingjays, it was recently confirmed that Phillip Seymour Hoffman has been cast as Plutarch Heavensbee in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

7. Mondo posters are awesome, and becoming bigger and bigger by the day. The latest? They have landed licences for both The Lord of The Rings, and also Game of Thrones. Check some of them out below:

8. Here is the Comic-Con Poster for GDT's Pacific Rim. How do you like them Giant Robots?

9. And a Comic-Con Poster for The Hobbit: an Unexpected Journey:

10. Apparently Channing Tatum is going to produce and star in a biopic about Evel Knievel called Life of Evel. I'd watch that!

11. Mike Newell might be directing a film called Tesla, Ruler of the World in which Christian Bale may play Nikola Tesla, and Nicolas Cage may be Thomas Edison. Why is that so exciting? Read this awesome piece on The Oatmeal which was tweeted by David Blaine the other day.

12. Look at this massive Comic-Con banner for The Hobbit: an Unexpected Journey:

13. Since we are on the topic of Hobbits, I note that filming wrapped on Friday 6 July after a 266 day shoot. Yowser!

14. Darren Aronofsky tweeted that Anthony Hopkins will play Methuselah in Noah, making that cast even more awesome than it already was. This is officially my most anticipated movie in the medium to long term. Filming hasn't even started yet.

15. Penultimately, here is a distressing new poster for JA Bayona's Lo Imposible starring Naomi Watts.

16. Last by not least, check out this trailer for horror anthology V/H/S. It looks great!

17. PS, I made this Looper poster out of my favourite shots in the trailer...
