Movie Poster Update - Because It's Been Too Long

It has been very long since I last did a post dedicated entirely to posters. I'm not really sure why either... possibly it has something to do with the fact that we haven't seen many great posters this year yet. That changed recently, with the release of a few pretty interesting posters for some highly anticipated films. I also came across a few incredible unofficial posters, and some really interesting combinations. All this and more can be seen, after the jump...

Savages (and Babel)

The poster (and the trailer) have recently been released for Olivier Stone's latest effort - a marijuana kidnapping flick starring Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Johnson, Blake Lively, Benicio del Toro, John Travolta and Salma Hayek. I looks pretty awesome, and I love the poster too. Something different, right? Wrong! It looks almost exactly like the poster from Babel back in 2009. Head over to Impawards.com to see them both, and instead of insulting Stone's movie for copying, embrace the resemblance by hanging them side by side. They are great together...

Looper

This mirror image style poster is another reason why Rian Johnson's Looper is number 14 on my list of Most Anticipated Films of 2012. In fact, with the trailer being released tomorrow, the buzz for this movie is beginning to build in a big way, and I'm wondering if it shouldn't have been in my top 10. Two more reasons why this poster rocks are that (1) JGL somehow looks like Bruce Willis (my understanding is that they went to a lot of trouble to get this right) and (2) the tagline. Confused why JGL should look like Bruce Willis? Well, he is Bruce Willis (the younger version of course).

Cosmopolis

I don't want this poster because I'm a man and it would be fundamentally off for me to want a poster with R Patz all over it. However, I do think (1) this is a really good poster and you should go ahead and get it if you want, (2) this film is going to be a trip because it's directed by sicko-genius David Cronenberg, and (3) R Patz could very well extricate himself from the Twilight zone with this role.

Jason Kauzlarich

Wawawiwa, check out these terrific posters designed by Jason Kauzlarich. You can buy them too (they are small though). Head over to his page on the Behance Network to check out the individual posters and some of his other work. I want to be a doctor, with those George A. Romero posters hanging in my consulting rooms. Oh, he also has an official website... www.jasonkauzlarich.com, which led me to discover another website sure to contribute to the demise of my career.

The Cabin in the Woods (and the Innkeepers)

This MC Escher-esque Mondo poster for The Cabin in the Woods by Phantom City Creative immediately reminded me of the Mondo poster for The Innkeepers by Ghostco. They too make a great couple. Head over to Mondo, Phantom City Creative or Ghostco for more awesomeness.

Blood in the Water

The last great pairing of the evening consists of beautifully creepy posters for David Cronenberg's Dead Ringers (via fuckyeahmovieposters) and Jaws (by David O' Daniel, via Alien Corset).
