Movie Poster Updates

There haven't been many new posters worth either slating or praising the last while, but there have been a couple worth posting. The selection includes some decent use of red, a couple of banners which illustrate the power of simple typography, a house crossed with a Rubik's cube as well as two posters that fit squarely into the "Is That Your Face Or Are the Drugs Kicking In" trend. Hit the jump to see 'em...

John Carter Character Banners

I like these, a lot. Two things: the spacial depth (or whatever) of the text, and the fact that if you look very closely, the text is ever so slightly transparent. Small details, big results!

Men in Black 3

I don't like these character posters for the long delayed MIB: 3. They are trying to be clever, and that often works. But this time it doesn't. Admittedly, the further you are away from the posters, the better they look (I'm serious). It's almost like the text was a little too big.

Some Red...

These two posters make quite a nice pair, even though I prefer the poster for Angelina Jolie's directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey. Apart from the nice posters, I have absolutely no idea what to expect from these two movies.

The Cabin in the Woods

This is the Rubik's Cube one, which is a little odd considering the synopsis: Five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods. Bad things happen. I do like the MC Escher-eque design though, and am quite keen to see this one. It was filmed way back in 2009, and has been stuck in the purgatory that is MGM's bankruptcy and Lionsgate issues.
