Oh, the wait has been eternal. But now, finally, we see the first fruits of Peter Jackson and Co's epic struggle to bring JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit to the big screen. Watch it first below, and hit the jump for a few thoughts and the poster.
Well, that was fucking incredible! Thank you Peter Jackson, that was my perfect Christmas present. It started a little slow, but by the end it felt like The Lord of the Rings all over again. Emotions are running high right now, so I will keep it short. The music: perfect. Bilbo: spot on. The dwarves: incredible. Their singing: almost the highlight. The progress (considering we have a year to go until release): phenomenal. The highlight: "Bagginses? What is a Bagginses, precioussss?" Oh my.
As expected, the poster has been released as well. I think it's pretty good (my favourite is still the first LOTR teaser poster). One thing is for sure though, the poster makes it clear that The Hobbit will still bear some of Guillermo Del Toro's fingerprints, for it reminds me that the director once said that The Hobbit was set in a "world that is slightly more golden at the beginning, a very innocent environment".
