The Hollywood Reporter Key Art Awards (Finalists)

The Hollywood Reporter Key Art Awards is an entertainment awards competition for advertising and communication. A wide range of media forms is recognised, and the competition covers film, television, DVD and games. Much more info is available at the official site. So, being a massive admirer of movie poster art, I should be an old follower of these awards. Except that I hadn't really heard of them until now. Never too late to start though...

Oh, and the rules work in such a way that media from past, current and future releases is eligible. But I will spare the details. Hit the jump to see the finalists in the print (ie poster) category and some trailers. It's nice to see some of my favourites, including Black Swan and Kick Ass, kicking some ass. The ceremony will be held on 19 October 2011.

Posters (one sheets, in various sub-categories)

Generally I must say those are deserved finalists. My favourites? Black Swan (even though the best poster didn't make it), Buried, Super and the beautifully disgusting Nurse 3D poster.

One Sheet Campaigns

Black Swan: one of my all time favourites. Before the movie itself punched me in the stomach and left me gasping for air, the posters had me in a daze. I love these.

Kick-Ass: the WWII style propaganda poster campaign was awesome. A damn sight better than the paint splattered theatrical poster...

House MD: not much of a fan, but the posters are pretty good.

Boardwalk Empire: apparently the series is great. The series of posters? Okay, but I'm not blown away. Kick-Ass did a lot more with the retro thing.

Louie: I know nothing about it. Posters are cool.

Finally, we have my second favourite after Black Swan - Music From The Big House. Awesome.

Oh, and considering the fact that trailers are right up there on my love list with posters, I suppose I should mention some of those finalists too.  I won't post links / embeds though - I don't have all day! From the look of the finalists, I must say I agree whole heartedly. Those are some seriously awesome trailers!
