Movie Poster Updates

Shite, so I wanted the first proper post to be about my favourite movies of 2011 so far. Needless to say, that is way easier said than done (I will bitch about it in the post itself), and coupled with the fact that last night saw so many great posters for movies I am dying to see, that post will have to wait. So that kind-of puts a spoke in the wheel of my proposed second post too: the most anticipated movies still to come in 2011. Oh well, I will do them soon. Here are some of the good posters that have just been released...

Six Character Banners for Drive
Drive, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (Pusher Trilogy, Valhalla Rising, Bronson) and starring Ryan Gosling, Carrey Mulligan, the awesome Bryan Cranston and more, is easily my most anticipated movie of the year. Critics have been raving, and it comes to South Africa on 9 December. But wait, I am getting ahead of myself...

The Skin I Live In
Any new movie from Pedro Almodovar is worth getting excited for. Check out the great US poster - it's very Barbara Cartland / Mills & Boon pulp romance-like, but damn creepy at the same time. Awesome.

Oh, this is also his first film with Antonio Banderas since  "Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!" in 1990. It will be great to see Banderas in something decent again.

The "beautiful film about the end of the world" from Lars Von Trier has received mixed reviews, but I am still damn keen to see it.

The film won Kirsten Dunst won best actress at Cannes this year, and Lars Von Trier was declared persona non grata after saying something silly again. He also promised "no more happy endings" in relation to this movie. After Antichrist, I am keen to see just what that may mean.

Either way, the poster (below) is amazing.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

Finally, here is a great quad poster for my second most anticipated of the year. It follows the great character posters which can be seen here. I will say no more - this is for discussion another day.

And there ends proper post number 1. Some trailers for the above movies have also been released. I will post them very soon.
